Edwards and Gary O'Neil Included in Wolverhampton Wanderers Managerial Contenders

Rob Edwards along with O'Neil are two of the initial names in the frame to replace the former manager as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on Sunday after the team's 10-match without a victory start to the top-flight campaign.

And both candidates - each of whom have previous associations to the team - are part of the names to be considered by the Wolves ownership.

The manager is currently at another club, which would pose a potential hurdle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton Town head coach - who made over a century of games for Wolves during his time as a player - is considered a leading contender for the position.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the Wolves board as they start the search of appointing a new manager.

O'Neil is additionally appearing as a unexpected contender, even though he would be a shock appointment given he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The former West Ham player is currently unemployed meaning Wolves would not be required to pay any compensation.
