Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night indicating they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the NFL.
The organization did not mention the player by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.
Allegations Shared on Instagram
Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a series of photos on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.
Official Complaints Currently Not on File
No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.
Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles
Rice was absent for the first six games of this season following an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. Rice was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
On the field, Rice finished the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs finished 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a ten-year span.
